Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Dharmapuri.

Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanam is a very important and popular place of pilgrimage. It is in Dharmapuri Town, Karimnagar District, Telangana State, and at a distance of 222 Kms. from Hyderabad. The temple complex is on the right bank of the mighty River Godavari.
It is an ancient temple of Sri Yogananda Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy with wide mention of its existence in scriptures from times before the years 850–928 CE. This province was ruled by a king named Dharma Varma and hence this place came to be called as Dharmapuri. During the period 1422-1436 CE the Bahmani Sultans conquered this land and destroyed the temple. In 17th century the temple was rebuilt. The main temple in this complex is of Sri Yogananda Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy (Lord Vishnu). There is also a temple of Ugra Narasimha Swamy. There are also temples of Lord Brahma, Lord Ramalingeshwara Swamy (Lord Shiva), Sri Venkateshwara Swamy, Sri Venugopala Swamy, Sri Anjaneya Swamy and of Lord Yamadharmaraju in this temple complex.
As this Devasthanam has temples of Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma at one place it is called ‘Trimurthi Kshetram’. And as the sacred River Godavari is flowing southwards along the Temple this town is called “Dakshina Kasi” and “Theertha Rajamu”.  Because there is a temple here of Lord Yamadharmaraju the God of death and Hell it is said that whoever prays Lord Yama at Dharmapuri  will not go to Yamapuri (hell) .
Being an ancient and historical temple town, Dharmapuri is a center of Vedic learning, and is known for retaining ancient culture and has a rich heritage of music, poetry and literature.
We were at this ancient place of pilgrimage from the evening of 22nd February to late morning of 23rd February 2016. We had three darshans at all temples and performed the elaborate traditional abhishekam seva to Sri Yogananda Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy.
The above information is based on a booklet in Telugu given to me by the temple office. I have provided below some pages from that booklet giving some very important information about the Temple (for Telugu readers):
